When Jackie (right) joined us, we already had Micky (left). At first, Micky wasn’t amused – she was a Diva through and through, and sharing wasn’t her forte. But after a few days, she changed completely and was like a mother to Sammy. She showed her everything a cat needed to know in our household, played with her and gave her a lot of warmth and love. They remained close, and later Micky even helped bring up Sammy’s kittens. She never had kittens on her own, but she was a devoted aunt. It was so heartwarming to watch those two together – Micky was aloof and elegant, Sammy goofy and clumsy. The bond between Micky and Sammy was something special, they were so different, but that didn’t stop them from being friends.

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. I hope our favorite chinese restaurant never goes out of business. We have spent so many wonderful hours there.
2. So far, the highlight of my year has have been the dating evenings with my husband. This is something we do once a month since my last inpatient stay.
3. Worrying about the past takes up too much time.
4. If I didn’t have to sleep, I would spend that extra time watching TV, surfing the Internet and cuddling our furbabies that always keep me company when I can’t sleep.

Jackie doesn’t care the terrace is a work in progress. It’s still her favorite place to be if it isn’t too hot. Janet (one of our dogs) doesn’t like it at all, but Jackie is her usual cool self.

Jackie is likes to sit at the railing, because she has a good view from there. She can see everything what happens in the garden, and this is what counts for an alpha cat!

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. A past event that I would like to see in person is the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, which was a big step in the process of the German Reunification.
2. If I were a dog, my breed would be Malinois (Belgian Shepherd). They are loyal, intelligent and their head always need something to work on.

3. If I came with a warning label, it would say the following: Give me some space, or you are heading for disaster.

4. I would want to take my husband and our furbabies with me to a deserted island.

Jackie is not nocturnal. She knows the rhythm of our household, and she usually comes in when we let the dogs in the garden for the last time before we turn in for the night. Then she gets a night snack, and after that she decides where she wants to spend the night. Sometimes she stays on the couch in the living room, but usually she joins us in the bedroom and looks for a human pillow. I know cats do not sleep as much as we humans do, but she is very mindful of us and stays very quiet until one of us gets up in the morning. She spends her time dozing and purring, grooming or sleeping (and snoring) herself. We love having her with us of course, even more so because she spends so much time outside during daytime. And one thing is for sure: I sleep better with a cat on my tummy!

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. I would love to be a personal assistant to Gillian Anderson, of course. I am a big fan
of her since the X-Files aired. And she does lots of charity, I’d like to help with that.

2. If I had a boat, I would name it Arielle. I like this Disney movie so much.
3. I want to improve my cooking skills. It’s important to eat well, but it must be tasty as well.
4. Surprises are something I mostly don’t like. I like my life as predictable as possible. But I have to admit, some surprises were very nice.

When we took in Sammy (picture above) we didn’t know how much this little ball of fur would change our life. My sister in law told us there were kitties on a farm that needed a new home very quickly, because the farmer wanted to get rid of them and throw them into the next river. To be honest, I didn’t want a second cat at this time. But of course, we wanted to help. And then I saw this black and white kitty, the weekest and smallest of four, and I fell in love. She fiercely loved me back for the whole eighteen years she was with us, and I hope I never forget the many happy moments we shared. Sammy always allowed me to share the most intimate moments of her life with her, even her death. And of course she gave us Jackie (picture below). I now I already have said it many times, but “Adopt don’t shop” can bring so much happiness!

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. I do nothing special on Memorial Day, because it’s not celebrated here.

2. I try to avoid people with negative energy. I don’t want to waste my precious time with them.

3. If I had a catchphrase, it would be “Don’t give up!”.
4. My husband and our furbabies motivate(s) me to work hard.

Jackie didn’t always live with dogs. In fact, she was ten years old when Janet joined us. We are very lucky Janet is such a gentle, loving dog, she always accepted the cats and never went after them. Sam mostly ignores Jackie and vice versa, but sometimes he gets envious and barks at her – Jackie doesn’t like that, of course. On the other hand they exchange head bumps as well, this looks very funny, because Sam is so much bigger. But for most of the time our furbabies get along very well. And one thing is certain: Jackie is the boss!

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. Drinking caffe latte is my highlight of the morning.

2. My favorite character on Big Bang Theory is nobody. I never watched the show, so I don’t know.
3. I could set a world record for being clumsy. I broke so many things in my life.
4. Rescuing former stray dogs is the craziest thing I’ve ever done. It means lots of work, but it is so rewarding as well!

This is one of the cats living in the neighbourhood. There are quite a lot cats here, but no strays. And because of this pet friendly enviroment I am very sure I am not the only person who would help any stray cats.

We once had a cleaning lady from Serbia, were the streets are full of stray cats. She was very surprised that in Germany most cats are loved family members. I think, when the humans are poor and struggle to survive the animals also suffer. That’s why our local shelter tries to get animals from those countries to Germany, where they often find new forever homes. So, adopt don’t shop!

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. 1995 was a very good year. I finished my education, and I got married. It was a wonderful time.
2. There is nothing quite like a nap with a cat sleeping on my tummy.
3. If I had a talk show, I would want to interview Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny – together. The X Files was my favourite TV Show, and they were so wonderful together.
4. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for my family, two- and four legged.

Thought a lot about my heart cat Sammy this week, who left us for the Rainbow Bridge in September 2017. She was such a gentle, loving cat, who loved to sleep near the wood-burning stove like in the picture above. I am so sure my furry companions have a soul as well, and that they deserve to be treated with respect and love. Sammy may not be here anymore, but she left me the gift of her love, and I am allowed to keep this forever.

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. 13 years ago, I watched the many tourists who had come to my home town to see the soccer world championship. It was wonderful to see people from so many different countries getting along so well and having a good time.
2. By this time next year, I hope to be as healthy as I can be, body and mind.
3. One word that describes me is cautious. Life taught me things can change very quickly.
4. If my life were a book or movie, it would be in the dramedy genre. Tragic elements, but funny events as well. Nothing beats having a good laugh!
