Feline Friday #93| Friendly Fill-Ins

It’s time for Feline Friday, hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus!

Sometimes Jackie doesn’t approve of her staff. We are to slow… We don’t get what she wants, because we can’t read her mind… We don’t give her more treats… We don’t have the time for a snuggle session NOW… The list is endless! So often she gives us THE LOOK!

Jackie runs a tight ship. And yes, we spoil her rotten. I’m sure she has a good life with us. Something she never lacks is love.

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. Love is a mystery I would love to know the answer to. I’m lucky and surrounded by lots of love, but there are so many things I can’t explain. But maybe some things are not meant to be explained.

2. The Canary Islands is the farthest I have ever been from home. It’s about 3.700 km/2.300 miles from my home. I admit it, I’m more of a homebody.

3. I’ve lost count of how many times I have been looking for my mobile phone. I really should find a permanent place for it.

4. I can feel the sun getting stronger, it reminds me of spring.

Feline Friday #91| Friendly Fill-Ins

It’s time for Feline Friday, hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus!

This morning, while enjoying some girl time with Jackie, I realised once more how much our furbabies are able to stay in the moment. As she laid there in a warm and safe place with a full belly, purring from time to time and dozing contentedly, clearly everything was alright in her world. She has forgotten the last hard weeks and is back to her usual happy self.

I’m a human and my world is more complicated than hers, but sometimes this serenity is contagious. I have a tendency to overthink everything, but Jackie always can calm me down. I think many people can say the same about their animal companions. We really should listen to them.

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. My favorite Christmas (or Hanukkah) tradition is spending time with family. Sometimes my parents also invite friends who would have spend Christmas alone, and this is always fun.

2. This holiday season I will miss having a big party with my husband’s great family. But so much is different this year, we will find our way.

3. I would like Santa to bring love, peace and the means to end this Corona pandemic for the whole world.

4. You might find nothing under my Christmas tree this year. That’s because we don’t have a Christmas tree, we don’t trust our furbabies with it!

It’s time for Feline Friday, hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus!

I noticed Jackie became distant and withdrawn in the last weeks. After doing some thinking I realized she really didn’t get the attention she deserved because we have been focussed on Sam’s health for over a month.

So I try to make it up to her now. I check on her more often and bring treats or just snuggle up for a few minutes. It helps that she is inside a lot due to cold weather. She really likes that, started purring more and follows us around the house for cuddling sessions. I’m glad she forgave me!

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. Why is hiring a craftsman always so expensive? These kinds of bills never cease to amaze me.

2. On holidays, I always have a second serving of pasta with garlic and olive oil. Simple, but I love it.

3. I’m eternally grateful for all the people and furbabies I met in life. They helped me become who I am.

4. ‘Tis the season for spending wonderful warm evenings at the wood burning stove. Humans and furbabies gather on the sofa and enjoy being together.

Feline Friday #89| Friendly Fill-Ins

It’s time for Feline Friday, hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus!

We are not the only cat parents here, and so I often meet other cats, especially at the bus stop. All cats I see here are well taken care of and clearly used to living with humans.

This cat decided the street was a good place to lie down. Of course I disagreed, even though the cars are driving slow here. But this cat is clever, with it’s fine senses it knew a car was coming our way before I heard or saw it and walked away. What I liked about this short encounter was that the cat clearly felt at ease in my presence. It knew I wouldn’t harm or even try to touch it. I said “Hi sweetie, how are you doing?” and the cat responded by blinking slowly.

Cats are such an important part of my life, and I really wouldn’t have it any other way!

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. My sofa is too crowded when all of us want to snuggle, but we love it anyway.
2. I am willing to give up anything for my family, two- and fourlegged. But I’m sure this answer will come up often!
3. One random fact about me is that I am a back sleeper by nature, but have to sleep on my side due to back pain. But I got used to it.
4. My ability to empathize with humans and animals makes me unique.

We had a few rainy days, and while I didn’t like getting wet during my walks with the dogs I immensely enjoyed the extra cuddling sessions with Jackie. Like many cats, she isn’t too fond of rain. When it comes to snuggling on the sofa, Jackie has strict rules:

1.) She always chooses me as her human pillow. I don’t know why, because for years she was clearly my husband’s cat. Maybe I am just more comfortable to lie on, because I am softer (or fat, ahem).

2.) The dogs are tolerated, but they are not allowed to move! This results in hissing fits. Cats and dogs may communicate differently, but believe me when I say the dogs know  hissing is no friendly hello.

3.) I am allowed to watch TV, but I may not touch my mobile, tablet or Laptop. When I reach for these, she makes sure she lies in a spot that makes it very difficult for me to type. Digital detox, cat style…

But of course Jackie gets away with it, we are well-trained cat staff ☺!

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. My plans for the weekend include meeting Finn, a five year old Labrador our friend walks for a few weeks. I always enjoy being introduced to new furbabies.
2. I don’t know if I like fireworks or not. I am sure there are many better ways to spend money, and animals often are terrified by them. Not just furbabies, but wild animals and cattle as well. But they are wonderful to look at and very impressive.
3. I’m grateful I have the freedom to live like I want. Of course there are limitations, but I know I am very lucky.
4. Furbabies make(s) a house a home (well, no surprise here). I always – even as a child – preferred living in a home with pets. This didn’t change.

Jackie doesn’t like that I try to keep an eye on her. I can be as quiet as possible, of course she notices me. And then she looks at me like in the picture above, and I hastily back off 😃. She has trained me so well! But I won’t stop looking for her, I want to know everything is alright – several times a day!

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. The fact that our furbabies need me motivates me to get up every morning.
2. I put salt on everything I cook. I love salt, and so I often crave french fries and chips, especially after I ate something sweet.
3. When it comes to giving our dog Sam his meds, I don’t cut corners. This is too important.
4. Never forget to appreciate the little things. This makes life so much brighter.

Jackie enjoys her life so much right now. We rarely see her, she spends most of the time outside in the garden. I would like to have more time with her, but we also want her to be happy. I am willing to step back if that means Jackie’s life is better. She is not “just a cat” to us, she is a member of the family.

Time spent together is so precious. This photo was made a few days ago, when Jackie decided she wanted to have a little extra girl time in the morning. I had nowhere to be, so we had an impromptu snuggle session. Both of us enjoyed every minute of it.

Our furbabies really teach us to live in the moment, and I am grateful for that. I really need to be reminded of this quite often!

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. June is a good month to be outside. It’s not too hot, but it’s clearly summer. A wonderful time for long walks with the dogs!
2. I love to play Forge of Empire at the moment. It has been a long time since I enjoyed a computer game so much. My husband plays it too, and we are having a blast!
3. I’m not ashamed to admit that I always had a very tender heart. This causes pain, but it also makes me feel so much love.
4. I’d rather not get into a situation where I am forced to give one of our furbabies away. I know I make mistakes, but I love them so much.

Jackie had a really bad day this Wednesday. We knew something was wrong when she followed us everywhere, even in the bathroom. Later we saw she had thrown up, and this rarely happens. Usually she can eat everything.

When her mother was her age, she suddenly got a bad case of food intolerance, so we are worried this happens to Jackie as well.

But everything was alright the next day. We will watch her, of course, but maybe it was just a one time thing.

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. My favorite outdoor activity is walking with my husband and the dogs.
2. One positive aspect of social isolation is that I became aware of the fact how wonderful our family and friends are, and that I miss them very much. I hope I will never take them for granted again.
3. It’s fortunate that there still are so many nice things I can do, and that this social isolation thing won’t go on forever.
4. I have so many animal companions of my past memorized. I hope I will never forget them!

Sammy liked to lie on the back rest on the sofa. It always looked a little bit funny, like she was hugging the sofa 🙂 We spent so many evenings together on the couch. Sammy always gave us so much love, peace and calmness. After a stressful day at work it was exactly what I needed, and I will always be grateful for it.

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. Lately, I have done a lot of worrying about my loved ones. This Corona threat hangs over everything.
2. My jeans are my most worn clothes. I can wear sweaters or blouses, boots or pumps with them.
3. I can’t help but being angry about those crazy people who have Corona parties (I witnessed this myself). If a lockdown will be announced this weekend, I wouldn’t be surprised.
4. When I meet a stranger, I am polite, but also a little bit shy. I need time to warm up to someone.

It’s time for Feline Friday, hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus!

There is a lot of uncertainty going on here, and I cherish my morning snuggle sessions with Jackie even more now. It’s so grounding to concentrate on feeling her velvety fur under my hands and feel her purr (I don’t have my hearing aids in this early in the morning). She reminds me every morning that fear is not everything in life, and that I are more important things to do (feeding her, for instance!). But surely I am not the only one who feels this way around furbabies. They are so important for our wellbeing.

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. I know I am sick when I don’t want to eat. Things must be bad when I don’t care about food!

2. For St. Patrick’s Day, I won’t do something special. There are no St. Patrick’s Day festivities in this village, and we would have to drive into the next big town.

3. It’s been a long time since I have been swimming. We have a swimming pool nearby, but somehow I didn’t feel like it.

4. In order to grow, you have to push yourself sometimes and be brave.
