It’s time for Feline Friday, hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus!

My hearing is very bad. I am deaf on the left ear since birth, and after a bad case of middle ear infection when I was five, I have to wear a hearing aid in my right ear as well. I don’t wear my hearing aid at night, so I won’t hear our pets barking or meowing then.

I am very sure Jackie knows when I can’t hear her. When she wants something and I don’t wear my hearing aid,  she makes sure she is in my line of vision (like in the picture) and shows me what she wants me to do (feed her, let her in the garden, whatever 🙂 ). I don’t see her mouth moving in these situations, so my guess is she doesn’t meow. Usually she is very vocal, but she she seems to know exactly when this won’t work.

I don’t think Jackie is an exception. Guide dogs or therapy horses have to figure out different ways of communication with humans as well. I know I always say this, but our pets are so clever!

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. I wish I could tell my teenage self “Yes, your life won’t be easy, you’re right about that. But there will also be wonderful moments and lots of love, so don’t be afraid!”

2. I think the most romantic movie is Shakespeare in Love. Such a great cast, and such a strong female lead.

3. This afternoon was the last time I enjoyed the bright sunlight. It had been a while, and the days are becoming longer, it was wonderful.

4. People being mean to each other happens too often.

A few weeks ago I told you about Sammy, and how she liked to hide in our sports bags.

Well, like mother, like daughter. Our sports bags were standing open in the bedroom, so they could dry. I hadn’t seen Jackie for a few hours and went looking for her (I check on the furbabies on a regular basis, I like to know they are well). I looked everywhere, I didn’t find her and I got worried… Then I went to the bedroom again, and found her lying in my husband’s bag. The bag is black, so Jackie was difficult to see, and she never had been hiding there before. Obviously she had been sleeping, she looked at me like “Why are you running through the house and calling my name all the time?! I just want to take a nap!” My husband just groaned “Cat hair even in my gym bag…” when I told him. But of course we love her anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. My favorite quote is “Just remember, you can do anything you set your mind to, but it takes action, perseverance, and facing your fears” by the wonderful Gillian Anderson. It’s so important to really go after your dreams and not give up easily.

2. My favorite part of February is my husband’s birthday! He will turn 50 this year, and we will celebrate with family and friends.

3. A little known fact about me is that I am afraid of being rejected by people, because I always tell the truth as I see it.

4. When an animal that has given up on humans starts trusting you and loving you back – this is the most rewarding experience in the world.

Sorry, this picture is blurry because Jackie won’t let me get nearer with my mobile, and I had to take this picture through the glass door… Cats…

It doesn’t matter the terrace doesn’t look the same anymore since we had worked on it last summer, Jackie still prefers the same spot in the right corner. I think it’s because she can overlook the garden from there. She insists on doing this even in the winter, at least three times a day. Not that here is much to see or to guard, the dogs have made it pretty clear this garden is ours. But she always looks so serene and calm when she sits there, so we let her. Whatever makes her happy 🙂

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. I am particular about what I see on TV. Once I have seen gruesome things, they stay on my mind for a long time, and this can cause great distress.
2. My main goal in life is to take care of my loved ones, two- and four-legged.
3. Seeing my husband for the first time is a moment I will never forget. At least I hope so!
4. Have you ever heard of the ability of pets to keep their humans healthy?

Jackie still doesn’t like the new sofa, and we don’t force her. Maybe our friend is right, she suggested Jackie doesn’t like the “new” smell on it. We’ll see how it will turn out.

In the meantime, Jackie insists on spending the nights in our bed, between our pillows. I am glad she feels safe with us. Sometimes I am afraid we could crush her between us, but it is like we are always aware of her, even while sleeping. And in the morning I enjoy waking up next to her small, warm body.

I hope Jackie will someday join us on the new sofa, but until then I will gladly take our nightly snuggle sessions.

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. I could not have my coffee without milk. It’s to hard on my stomach if I drink coffee without it.

2. A simple pleasure I enjoy is having coffee in bed every morning.

3. If I could change one thing about myself, it would be stopping eating too much.

4. Honesty is hard to find these days.

When Jackie was younger, she loved to greet us sitting on the garage when we came home, especially when it was dark. After saying hello, she liked to jump down on the car that was standing in front of the garage… This wasn’t so good for the car’s surface, of course! But Jackie was so quick, we couldn’t stop her. She is more careful now, but you can still see the scratches on my husband’s car 🙂

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. When I am with my husband and my furbabies, I always feel loved and safe.
2. I want to be there for my loved ones, two- and fourlegged.
3. No one knows me better than my husband, my parents and the furbabies.
4. That our home is a safe place for all of us is a thought that crosses my mind often.

Feline Friday #73 | Friendly Fill-Ins Week #189

It’s time for Feline Friday, hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus!

I am so glad Jackie is with us, because the circumstances surrounding her birth were horrible. This was shocking, because the pregnancy was so wonderful, and Jackie’s mother Sammy let me touch her belly and feel the kittens move so often.

At some point we knew something was wrong, because Sammy had been in labor for hours and was screaming with pain, but no kitten was born. I called our vet, and he told me not to worry and just wait a little longer (such an idiot! We never trusted him with one of our furbabies again).

Finally, Jackie was born. But Sammy was still in so much pain, she wasn’t able to take care of her. She still had contractions, but no other kitten came out.

We didn’t bother calling the vet again, we put Sammy and Jackie in a box and drove to the next clinic. The doctor did an exam, gave Sammy an injection and told us to go home, she said the contractions should become stronger now and the other kittens should be born soon.

This was true, but it was too late. The other two kittens were stillborn. We don’t know what was wrong, or if we could have saved them by going to the vet earlier.

But Jackie was alive, and after everything settled down Sammy began to take very good care of her. Our other cat Micky helped, and so did we humans, of course. And very soon we decided that we would keep Jackie, we really felt a strong connection with her.

It was the beginning of another wonderful love story!

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. My plans for the weekend include celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. I can’t believe we have made it so far.
2. You will never find fancy clothing in my home. We both prefer jeans.
3. I hope I always will share my life with furbabies. It means so much to me.

4. I hope I never will make wrong decisions where my loved ones (two and four legged) are concerned.

It’s time for Feline Friday, hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus!

When Jackie decides it’s snuggle time, than it’s snuggle time! It doesn’t matter if I want to blog, like in the picture above.

Mostly she absolutely has wrapped us around her sweet little paw. I think this is difficult to understand for someone who lives without furbabies. But in our household our furbabies are granted some rights as well. We want them to feel well and enjoy living with us. If they are happy, it makes us happy as well. As I am writing this, all of our furbabies are in the same room with me, relaxing and obviously feeling safe with me. And this is exactly how we want it to be. There are enough hard things to deal with, but I try to make our home a sanctuary for all of us.

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. On New Year’s Eve, I will stay at home with my husband and the furbabies, and we will try to make the fireworks as bearable as possible for Sam, who is afraid of the loud noises.
2. My focus word for 2020 is calmness. Not getting carried so easily would be a big step forward.
3. Hanging up the new cat calendar in the living room is the best thing about starting a new year.
4. My personal goals for 2020 include being the best person I can for my pack and living every day at its fullest.
