It’s time for Feline Friday, hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus!
I am so glad Jackie is with us, because the circumstances surrounding her birth were horrible. This was shocking, because the pregnancy was so wonderful, and Jackie’s mother Sammy let me touch her belly and feel the kittens move so often.
At some point we knew something was wrong, because Sammy had been in labor for hours and was screaming with pain, but no kitten was born. I called our vet, and he told me not to worry and just wait a little longer (such an idiot! We never trusted him with one of our furbabies again).
Finally, Jackie was born. But Sammy was still in so much pain, she wasn’t able to take care of her. She still had contractions, but no other kitten came out.
We didn’t bother calling the vet again, we put Sammy and Jackie in a box and drove to the next clinic. The doctor did an exam, gave Sammy an injection and told us to go home, she said the contractions should become stronger now and the other kittens should be born soon.
This was true, but it was too late. The other two kittens were stillborn. We don’t know what was wrong, or if we could have saved them by going to the vet earlier.
But Jackie was alive, and after everything settled down Sammy began to take very good care of her. Our other cat Micky helped, and so did we humans, of course. And very soon we decided that we would keep Jackie, we really felt a strong connection with her.
It was the beginning of another wonderful love story!
4. I hope I never will make wrong decisions where my loved ones (two and four legged) are concerned.
