Ten Things of Thankful, Week 32/2019

So I proudly join the TToT-community again. Let’s see what I can contribute this week:

  • On Monday, I added more colours to my tray in OT. I like working with acrylic paint, and I am sure it will turn out great.
  • On Tuesday we finished working on our mosaics in group OT. They look great, but I wasn’t able to get a good photo, because all four mosaics together are quite big. I’ll have to wait until it hangs at the wall for that.
  • We got a big step nearer to the finish line where the terrace is concerned. Just four rows are left from thirteen.
  • Had a few nice chats with strangers in the bus. This is always nice, I like to think those people wouldn’t have talked to me if I appear to be an unfriendly person.
  • I have a cold, but it seems to run is usual course and seems to be nothing to worry about. They say colds keep our immune system fit, so I hope for some positive aspects as well while I am sneezing and coughing.
  • We met the dog trainer on Saturday. She is such a nice person, friendly, but stern. She told us so much about Sam, and this was the first time she met him.
  • The dog trainer said, Sam just wanted to protect us. That made us love him even more. Now we just have to let him now that we protect him.
  • The dog trainer didn’t really tell us something new about Sam. I am very grateful that we know our little man really well. We just have to change our reaction to his behavior.
  • The dog trainer also said there’s a bond between Sam and me. It was so good to hear this, because we had to work for this.
  • On Sunday my husband packed for his fishing trip. I am thankful he has this possibility to unwind and calm down.

  1. It’s hard to photograph things sometimes, especially if they are large. I look forward to seeing photos when the mosaics are hung up.

I’m sure that you are a friendly person, and I bet those strangers were happy to have someone to talk to!

I hope you get over your cold quickly!

I’m glad the dog trainer was able to help you. I imagine that Sam will respond well to the suggestions you received.

  2. Interesting about Sam (wanting to protect you) as an explanation for his behavior. Totally pack animals and you (and your husband) and he are the pack. One thing helpful is to figure out ‘ranking’ (in the pack). Perhaps the trainer might offer ways to determine that. (We’ve always had dogs and, being a ‘pack of three’ its been clear from the beginning (for each dog) who the alpha is. I mention all this because our first dog, Ola, saw me as the alpha then her and finally Phyllis. lol The result was if Phyllis and Ola were out together, say, taking a walk, Ola would be way protective. No one was allowed to get too close to Phyllis. If it was the three of us, Ola would be totally relaxed.)
One of the reasons I really like dogs.

    1. Sam has been treated very badly by humans in the past, and it is so touching he would risk so much for us.
Ranking is not a problem where humans are concerned, but he tries to challenge the cat sometimes, but the cat always puts him in his place 🙂 But he needs to understand that we humans will take care of everything.
Like you say, dogs are perfect lifeforms. And they bring so much love in our life!

  3. Everyone needs ways to relax and calm down from the stresses in life. It sounds like your husband has found his and it is nice that you realize how going fishing is just what he needs.
Yeah for finishing the mosaics! Can’t wait to see them.

    1. Exactly, fishing does wonders for him, so I am doing everything I can to make it possible.
I am looking forward to see the mosaic hanging at the wall myself! It should be done next week.
