Feline Friday #53 | Friendly Fill-Ins

It’s time for Feline Friday, hosted by Comedy Plus!

Summer is in full swing here, and Jackie is fourteen years old, so we are watching her closely. There is always water on the terrace for her, so she can drink any time she wants to.

Every evening she joins us and gets a treat. Then the humans, dogs and Jackie go upstairs and settle in for the night, and this ritual is a little different now because it is so hot. We humans got to bed, and the dogs often lie on the cool floor and don’t use their dog beds. Jackie is a little more picky, she takes her time to find the best spot. Sometimes she chooses to lie next to the door to our bedroom, sometimes she settles down on the stairs, sometimes she joins us on the bed, but doesn’t use us as her human pillow. I miss our snuggle sessions, but this will have to wait. But for now our furbabies got through the heat wave ok, and that’s all that matters.

Friendly Fill-Ins

I again participate in the Friendly Fill-Ins, hosted by Four-LeggedFurballs and 15andmeowing. So here we go:

1. Summer is a good time to wear dresses and enjoying the fact that you don’t have to wear a coat most of the time.
2. The most recent  walk  that I had with our dogs was uncomfortably hot.
3. I thought I would grow out of loving animals, but I haven’t. Let’s be honest: This isn’t going to happen. But it could be worse 😉
4. I feel annoyed when people ask me if I haven’t tried X, Y or Z for my pain, anxiety or depression. I have a wonderful team of care providers to talk about therapy options, and I don’t expect a miracle healing.

  1. Jackie knows when it’s time to join her peeps. She’s a good girl kitty.

Love all you fiil-in answers. Especially #4. I can’t imagine asking you any of those questions when you have a team that knows what they are doing.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday, Viola. 😎

    1. Yes, Jackie is clever and wants to be with us, so she finds a way to be near even in the summer heat 🙂
I understand people want to help, but sometimes these discussions can be very annoying 😦

  2. They are not as snuggly in the summer, but on occasion one of mine will still try to get on my pillow and i have to sent that one to the foot of the bed. It’s just too hot.

Whenever someone tries to give me unsolicited advice on just about anything, i remember two things. One, the person cares. Two, the person probably just wants to be heard and acknowledged as trying to contribute to a solution. What i attempt to do (and i don’t always manage, but i try) is to simply say, “Thank you so much for caring, and for discussing those things with me. Right now i and my (husband, doctor, therapist, whomever it is) have decided to try something different, but if it does not work, i will remember your suggestion and look into it.”

That is usually enough to make the person feel valued, while letting them know there are already plans in place and theirs will be considered if needed.
