Ten Things of Thankful, Week 18/2019

So I proudly join the TToT-community again. Let’s see what I can contribute:

  • Met with my best friend and had breakfast with her. We had two wonderful hours together just chatting about everything.
  • We had our friend and her dog over for a barbecue. Humans and dogs had a great time!
  • Visted another friend and her wonderful Rottweiler. It was such a nice afternoon full of warmth. Rottweiler are classified as dangerous dogs here, and you need a special permission to keep them. Well, all Frieda wants is cuddle 🙂
  • My husband found out the terrace is broken underneath the tiles, and this is the reason for the problem in the basement. Now we know what is going on and what to do.
  • I made an apple tie from scratch, and it tasted wonderful. I am so proud it was a success, because I am not very skilled where baking is concerned. But maybe I just need more practice.
  • I felt quite down and very tired last week. But I was able to get lots of rest and tried not to dwell on it too much. I hope next week gets better!
  • We rembered to give our furbabies the first tick and flea treatment of the year. Ticks are no fun, and I hope we made their life a little bit better. It’s supposed to last twelve weeks, so they should be safe for now.
  • We celebrated my husband’s vacation with having pancakes in a very cozy restaurant. The dogs where allowed to come in as well, and I was so proud of them: They calmly laid down under the table and had a nap while we were eating. This was not always so easy. This was not Janet’s and Sam’s fault, they just had to learn how to behave in these situation, and you surely don’t learn this on the streets or in a killing station.
  • Our drier broke, and we just had it for a few weeks. But the timing wasn’t too bad, because it happened in the warranty period. So I think we will figure something out.
  • I am so thankful for the many kind people in my life who help me to get through rough times. Don’t know where I would be without them.

  1. What a wonderful week you’ve had. Hubby’s vacations, pancakes out, pups with you, and visits with friends. Excellent.

Have a fabulous day and week filled with many thankful things. ♥

  2. Visiting with friends is so nice! I just had lunch with a friend today–someone I hadn’t seen since I moved nearly 2 years ago. It was great to chat and catch up. How nice that you were able to get the dogs together, too, and that everyone got along!

I’m sorry about the terrace and the drier, but hope that fixes will be not too difficult (or costly).

Hope you have a good week! Thanks again for joining the TToT!

  3. excellent on the ‘still in warranty’ timing of a breakdown. all things do (breakdown) but way better when it’s on someone else’s dime.
dogs at a restaurant. Una is the only one of the dogs we’ve had that has actually done that… they other two, Ola and Bella were far to protective to be able to enjoy such a fun, social event.
(We took Una to a Bed & Breakfast a few years ago, it was a pet-friendly place so there were dogs everywhere… even at breakfast.)
Have a good week coming up.

    1. Like you say, we need to listen to our dogs. It’s not good to ask them to do something they are not comfortable with (there are enough annoying things like vet appointments already).
      Have a great week.

  4. If you are going to have something break down, having that happen during the warranty period is best. Hopefully they will make good on the warranty.
Congratulations on your “from scratch” apple pie!
That is great that your husband was able to figure out the cause for the problem in your basement. Discovering the cause is an important first step too being able to fix something.

    1. I am still learning how to bake without using a cake mix, but it’s fun, and it tastes a lot better.
Our house is over forty years old, so these things can happen. A friend will help us to fix it, so I am optimistic about the terrace.
Costumer service will come tomorrow and look after the drier, let’s hope they can fix it!

  5. Lots of meet ups with friends sounds good, but I’m sorry you’ve felt quite down & exhausted. I do hope this week is a bit brighter. It made me chuckle when I read you made an ‘apple tie’, I actually thought there was twist on the classic apple pie I wasn’t aware of! Sorry about the broken terrace and the drier, such a pain when things like this happen. With the drier it’s good it’s within warranty so I hope the manufacturers are good at sorting it out for you 🙂

    1. We will see what the manufacturer’s client service says tomorrow about the drier. I hope it can be easily fixed, because the dirty laundry keeps piling up.
Argh, sorry about the apple “tie”, I wrote this post without auto-correct, so it was completely my fault.
My husband has a friend who will help us with the terrace. So it still will be lots of work, but we are not alone. So I hope everything can be sorted out quickly.
