DARE TO BE
When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully.
When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light.
When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it.
When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway.
When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back.
When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some.
When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going.
When times are tough, dare to be tougher.
When love hurts you, dare to love again.
When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal.
When another is lost, dare to help them find the way.
When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand.
When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile.
When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too.
When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best.
Dare to be the best you can –
At all times, Dare to be!”
― Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being FreeWhen I read this for the first time, I was very impressed, but my next thought was: “That’s a lot to do. I have no superpowers!”
I read it again and noticed that some things are really easy to do. My favourite line, because I know I can do this, is “When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile”. I will start with this, and see what else I can come up with later. And maybe at the end of the day I there will be a little less darkness in the world.
Basically it’s all about making the world a better place by spreading positive thoughts. This is my contribution.
Excellent. Words to live by indeed.
Have a fabulous day and week filled with wonderful Sparks. ♥

Great spark. That is a lot to do, but hopefully it is something we do naturally without needing reminders.

A lot to do indeed, but I hope it gets easier with practice 🙂

That really is a most wonderful Spark! Hey, you asked about feral kitties and TNR. TNR is Trap, Neuter and Return. We trap them, get them neutered (or spayed) and return them to the place they came from. I our case they came back to live in our backyard.

Thanks for clarifying. This is done in Germany too, and it seems these cats have a very happy life.

I am a fan of Steve Mariboli’s writings, but this is the first time I’ve seen this one and I love it so much! You have it right, start with one thing, and when you have that down, add another! A smile can be such a powerful thing! And I know from our visits and things you’ve written that you practice more of these too! I am going to have to print a copy for my mirror to remind myself of the kind of person I want to be, thank you for sharing it! XO
