Ten Things of Thankful, Week 14/2018

Ten Things of Thankful

So I proudly join the TToT-community. Let’s see what I can contribute:

  • My smartphone finally got back to me! I hope it will never be broken again. Even though my old smartphone was fine, I enjoyed the faster internet very much.
  • Autumn and winter had been overshadowed by the death of my beloved cat Sammy. In the past week I noticed the grief has lessened. She will always be missed, but when I think of her, I now smile instead of cry.
  • My husband had the week off. It was a very relaxed time for both of us.
  • My father and I will meet tomorrow. I will give him a special hand cream for my mother, who complains of dry skin. It’s always nice to give something back.
  • Ice cream tastes so much better when the sun is shining and you don’t need to wear a coat! Was able to prove this theory yesterday 🙂
  • Got something important off my chest in OT. It will take time to learn, but it was a start.
  • Yesterday I entered a fast food restaurant. The waitress noticed how tired I was and insisted that I have a seat until she brings my order to my table. That was so sweet. Couldn’t thank her enough for it.
  • Was able to wear nice blouses again, because the temperature outside nearly was 20 degrees Celsius. Had almost forgotten about them in the long, cold winter days.
  • Managed to throw away things I don’t need any more. Seems like I am no longer stuck and ready for a new chapter in my life. Or so I hope!
  • Joining the AtoZ Challenge has been fun so far. It brought up so many happy memories.

  1. I’m glad you were able to use your old smart phone while waiting for the repair of the newer one.
Finding the right lotion to help with your mother’s dry skin is a blessing I’m sure she will appreciate.
Being able to appreciate the goodness in others, i.e. the waitress, says a lot about your heart too.
I need to tackle that decluttering job as well.
Blogging has a way of bringing up memories. I’m glad some happy memories emerged from you participating in the A to Z Challenge.
Hope you have a great week.

    1. Thanks. The hand cream was recommended by my podiatrist who often wears rubber gloves, so I hope it helps my mother too. TTOT helps me a lot to put things in perspective. I may think my week was bad, but then I have to admit it wasn’t 😄. Have a great week, too.

  2. Thank you for linking up with us!! Writing is such good therapy, and I agree that the A-Z is bringing up many good memories for you and reasons to smile. I also see how positive you are about animals in general and this is a very good trait you can be proud of. God has obviously chosen you to be a special caretaker for some of his sweetest!

How nice to have your husband home for a week to relax together… and icecream, Yum! 🙂 My husband will be off work the last week in April and we are planning to visit the ocean, my favorite place to find peacefulness and watch the dolphins playing in the water!

It is nice to give back and your mom will no doubt appreciate the hand cream. You are blessed to have both of your parents still living, and that you get to see them sometimes. 2How far away from you do they live.

I would be so lost without my cellphone, I am glad that you now have yours back. Can I talk you into adding the “Words with Friends 2” app, so we can play in English? I would always lose in German, I can’t remember very much at all. It plays very much like Scrabble. It would be fun!

    1. To be honest, our pets take also care of me, so we are even 🙂
A trip to the ocean is a good idea, we don’t live near the water.
My parents are quite young and healthy, they live about 40 km away, so meetings are no big deal.
I’ll look up the “Words with friends up” an PM you, sounds interesting and everything that improves my English is appreciated 😉

  3. I’m glad that your grief is not as raw now. It takes time to heal after the loss of a pet, and I’m glad you can smile now when you think of the memories.

  4. Welcome to Ten Things of Thankful Viola. You have a good list there. Getting your phone back – very important . And missing your dear cat Sammy – so glad that the fog is lifting. Of course you’ll always miss him but you’ll also always have great memories. It’s great that you enjoy time with your husband when he is off work.. Make the most of it. And the same with mum and dad. Hope the cream works by the way.
I am lucky enough to live near the seaside in England . and love to go for walks along the coast with my husband and my children and grandchildren . Looking forward to seeing more of your words …

  5. I would like to test your ice cream theory, but unfortunately, it’s been rainy and dull since the opening of my favourite ice cream shop in the area, for the season. Hoping to have some creamy delight, in the sunshine soon. Welcome to this thankful group.
